Bihar Chapter of IAS Association stands behind Durga

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar Chapter of IAS Officers Association met here on Thursday urged the UP government to immediately revoke suspension of SDM of Greater NOIDA, Durga Shakti Nagpal, and asked the UP government to refrain from resorting to suspension of officers on insufficient grounds.
In a resolution passed at a two-hour long close-door meeting at the IAS Bhawan the Association adopted a resolution in which they supported the efforts made by the UP IAS Association and the Central Indian Civil and Administrative Association to resolve the issue of Durga's suspension.
In all more than 50 IAS officers attended the meeting, which was presided over by its president V K Verma (1976 batch), chairman-cum-member of the Board of Revenue, Bihar.
While Durga was suspended on July 27 for, what the UP government said, ordering the demolition of the boundary wall of a make-shift mosque without following the due process the bureaucrats alleged that action was taken against her because she had ordered a crack down on the sand mafia.
However, the state government strongly refuted the allegation that it had done so at the behest of the sand mafia. The state government is repeatedly pleading that Durga had been taking action against the sand mafia for the last many months but it never shifted her. Had that been the reason the Akhilesh government would have transferred her in December last year itself. This is the official stand.
It needs to be recalled that only two days back the sand mafia in Himachal Pradesh tried to run over a tractor over a young IAS officer, Mohammad Yunus Khan in the Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh.
In the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh the mining mafia even killed an IPS officer Naredra Kumar Singh, originally from Bihar, by running over a tractor when he tried to stop the vehicle.
In Bihar too the sand mafia have been quite but the state government had failed to crack down on them.
