Narendra Singh’s regret exposes his knowledge about foreign relations

Patna,(BiharTimes): The more they regret the more they expose themselves.

This is the quality of ministers in the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar. Though television-watchers clearly listened to what both Bhim Singh and Narendra Singh had said about the dead Indian soldiers yet they alleged that their remarks were twisted and distorted by the media.

Narendra Singh, had only on Saturday, ridiculed the demand of family members and villagers of martyrs for the chief minister and army chief to come, by stating that they should even call God (khuda) to their respective villages.

Now the same minister, who is in politics for over four decades, have come out with another fantastic statement. Thus it has prompted several political observers and opposition leaders to question his very place in the cabinet, though it is also a fact that ever since the sacking of Sushil Kumar Modi he is eying for the post of deputy chief minister.

So a day after his famous clean-chit to Pakistan in his home town Jamui, he hurriedly called a Press conference in Patna to concede that he was ill-informed that Indian soldiers were killed by militants to create a wedge between the two neighbours. He said he has now come to know it was the handiwork of the Pakistani Army for which the Indian government should take the sternest possible action.

He also acknowledged that he has been issued a show cause notice by the JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav and said he would reply soon.

The Agriculture Minister said he regretted his remarks but then hastened to add that the media twisted his comments out of context.

He said he was sorry if his remarks have hurt the sentiments of any individual.

On being informed that his remarks have landed Nitish Kumar in an embarrassing position he said if the Chief Minister asks for “:my resignation, I will be ready to hand over the letter at any time.”

But Narendra Singh defended his remarks describing Pakistan as a younger brother and said it was the outcome of his socialist ideology and a vision that India should have good relations with all its neighbours.
