Bihar’s Singh brothers dream big with their Jumpbook

Patna,(BiharTimes): Brothers Nilay Singh and Ankur Singh from Patna have created a social networking website all on their own without any degree from prestigious institution.

They have created Jumpbook, which they claim is threefold leap from other websites, as one can write and post blogs, sell, buy or list items online and also use it as a forum for quiz.

According to Nilay they have worked on the project for the past seven years. Their website was completed on April 16 this year.

They did their schooling from a private CBSE-affiliated school of Patna they developed interest in Internet while they were still in Class-XII.

Nilay said Orkut became very popular among youngsters. Then came Facebook, which beat Orkut.
“We thought why not create another website which could eventually beat Facebook,” the brothers were quoted in the media recently.
Their father late Dr Mahesh Singh worked at Bharat Coking Coal Limited in Dhanbad while mother Bimla Singh is a housewife. They did not have enough money to join prestigious colleges. So, after finishing school, they learned how to make websites from friends and computer training institutes.

However, they realize that their dream to become the next Mark Zuckerbergs will not turn into reality until they go to an engineering college and have a degree in computers.

So they took admission in ordinary colleges in Punjab with the help of education loan. However, they were disappointed by the syllabus. So Nilay decided to leave it midway, and then started designing websites for different companies to earn a living.

However, Ankur continued and finished his graduation this year. But he claims he knew more about websites than what he was taught in the college.

Ever since April 16 their website got more than 22,000 users. But they conceded that they are technically not equipped enough to handle too many users at a time, as the server often crashes. They said they need at least Rs 25 lakh so that they could create a better server and proper infrastructure. In this regard they have written a letter to the chief minister but so far have received no response.
