Assets worth Rs five crore seized from engineers’ premises

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police on Wednesday simultaneously raided the premises of two state government engineers in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Vaishali districts and unearthed disproportionate assets worth around Rs five crore.

The EOU sleuths conducted raids at four different places at Patna, Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga of Tirhut canal circle superintending engineer Bharat Purve.

According to ADG (Headquarters) Ravindra Kumar the raids were conducted at Purve's parental house in Darbhanga, his office and residence in Muzaffarpur district and two flats and a cybercafe owned by him in Bahadurpur Housing Colony in the state capital. 

The seized assets included jewellery worth Rs 20.6 lakh.

Purve was promoted to the rank of superintending engineer and posted at Muzaffarpur in February last.
The EOU sleuths also seized disproportionate assets worth Rs 3.07 crore following a raid on the house of retired assistant engineer of Vaishali District Board, Shishir Kumar. The seized assets included cash, jewellery and luxury cars. The palatial house worth Rs 50 lakh is situated near the official residence of Vaishali SP in Hajipur.

The FIR said Shishir Kumar accumulated immovable property worth Rs 2.65 crore and movable assets worth Rs 40.72 lakh, respectively.

There were documents relating to purchase of different plots of land worth over Rs one crore in Hajipur. He had also purchased six flats in the name of his relatives in Patna, Pune and Delhi. Three vehicles and gold jewellery worth Rs 3.68 lakh were also seized.

Kumar has around Rs 20 lakh in bank deposits and had investments worth Rs 3 lakh in insurance policies.
