Dance girls’ service sought to woo JD(U) workers

Patna,(BiharTimes): Things have reached another low in Janata Dal (United) in Bihar.

Perhaps never in has any ruling party sought the help of dance girls to attract party workers at meetings as on Sunday. As Janata Dal (United) is witnessing erosion in support base it organized dance by girls at several of the district level workers meetings held on Sunday.

True folk dances are organized during cultural festival or even during big rallies, yet no such shows are held at the party workers’ meetings. Workers are core of the party and not common men and women on streets.

Reports said that the scheduled Janata Dal (United) workers’ meetings held in a dozen Assembly segments on Sunday were marked by disruptions and chaos as instead of serious discussion on the issues the dance girls were seen entertaining the crowd, which at many places included senior ministers, legislators and other party workers.

For example in Daraunda Assembly constituency in Siwan district a woman dressed in white danced in front of Shyam Rajak and Nitish Mishra, both ministers- and local MLA Kavita Singh.

Reports said that the ministers objected and threatened to leave, but they were told that the woman who was performing kathak dance belonged to Brahmakumari. The event was said to be organized by local MLA Kavita Singh’s controversial husband, Ajay Kumar Singh. It needs to be recalled that only in the recent by-poll for Maharajganj seat the JD(U) lost to RJD by 1.35 lakh votes.

In Barh Assembly constituency in Patna district, two girls danced to the tunes of film songs. The party programme was also disrupted amid chaotic situation and slogan shouting. It was attended among others by state party chief Vashisth Narayan Singh and Patliputra MP Ranjan Prasad Yadav.

However, Barh MLA Gyanendra Singh Gyanu denied that any girl danced or slogans were raised against anybody. If any news channel is showing this, it is absolutely wrong, he added. He went on to accuse the political rivals of spreading canards in this regard.

According to Press Release of the party the workers' meetings were held at Barh, Rupauli, Alamnagar, Biharsharif, Runisaidpur, Kurhni, Daraunda, Manjhi, Kargahar, Triveniganj and Darbhanga rural Assembly constituencies. The leaders who attended the programmes included Vashisth Narayan Singh, Shivanand Tiwari, Ranjan Yadav, Jagdish Sharma, Monazir Hasan, Anil Sahni, R C P Singh, Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lalan, Ali Anwar and Sushil Singh. They are all either Rajya Sabha or Lok Sabha MP. The ministers who were present included Vijay Kumar Choudhary, P K Shahi, Bhim Singh, Shyam Rajak, Shahid Ali Khan, Nitish Mishra, Damodar Raut, Parveen Amanullah, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Jeetan Ram Manjhi, Ramai Ram, Renu Kushwaha, Narendra Narayan Yadav, Brishen Patel and Gautam Singh, besides the local legislators.
