Bring back Buddha’s begging bowl, demands Raghuvansh

Patna,(BiharTimes): Rashtriya Janata Dal MP from Vaishali, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, on Monday raised the demand for bringing back the begging bowl of Gautam Buddha from a museum in Kabul (Afghanistan) and install it at its “original” place, which falls in his parliamentary constituency in Bihar.
While raising the issue during Zero Hour, in Lok Sabha he said Buddha, who was on his way to attain ‘nirvana’ (salvation), had presented the ‘bhikshapatra’ (begging bowl) to the people of Vaishali. It was later taken away to Purushputra (now Peshawar), the capital of Kanishka, by invaders and then further to Kandahar, then known as Gandhar.
The RJD MP said he had referred the matter to former external affairs minister S M Krishna and learnt that the vase was now kept in Kabul museum. Singh urged the external affairs ministry and the Archaeological Survey of India to take steps to bring it back to India and install it at its “original place in Vaishali.
