Sushil Modi’s tirade against Bihar Police lands BJP in deep trouble

Patna,(BiharTimes): By attacking the Nitish Kumar government for not taking credit for the arrest of Indian Mujahideen chief, Yasin Bhatkal, and his accomplice, Asadullah Akhtar, the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders landed themselves in deep trouble.
Independent observers and critics––not necessarily belonging to Janata Dal (United)––are now asking a counter-question: as to why the BJP was silent throughout last seven and half a years, when it was sharing power with Janata Dal (United). After all Yasin Bhatkal became the damad (son-in-law) of Bihar and spread his activities in Darbhanga region when none else but BJP was almost equally sharing the power. None else but Sushil Kumar Modi himself was the deputy chief minister of the state.
Yasin Bhatkal, according to reports which appeared even when the BJP was in power in Bihar, was very much active in Darbhanga region. Though his father-in-law had a business in Delhi, he was originally from Samastipur district.
Reports based on the version of different agencies say that Yasin Bhatkal not only influenced several youths studying in engineering and other professional courses in Bhatkal and other cities of Karnataka he even came to Darbhanga to run his dispensary. In the process he came into contact with several youths, whom he actually financed. All this happened not during the Lalu-Rabri Raj or during the post-June 16, 2013 days, but during the heydays of BJP-JD(U) alliance. Yet no action whatsoever was taken by the state government and no BJP leader ever spoke on the issue. What is strange is that Darbhanga parliamentary constituency is represented by Kirti Azad, who even when BJP was in the alliance, used to strongly criticize Nitish––but he never did so on this count.
One of the observers who wished not to be quoted asked If Nitish Kumar might have Muslim voters in mind, what prompted BJP to remain silent throughout. He said Sushil Modi was the strongest defender of the Nitish regime a couple of weeks before the final split in NDA on June 16. The only time during the seven and a half years rule in which Modi differed with Nitish was on the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister P Chidambaram last February. While Nitish welcomed it Sushil Modi was critical of it.
Besides, Bhatkal is not the first such person to be arrested on the charge of terrorism. Several arrests have been made in the past yet never did the Bihar government took credit. In fact the state government stand was always that it was not even aware of the arrest made by the police of other states though hardly anybody would believe its version.
So why all out of sudden the saffron party changed its stand.
Analysts believe that whether Nitish wants to consolidate Muslim votes or not can not be said with surety but Sushil Modi and his company certainly want to woo the Hindu voters by giving it a communal colour. But in the process he had to answer several pertinent questions. The most important one is: Should the national security be compromised just to share power with Nitish Kumar in Bihar. The BJP started speaking against him only when its minister were literally thrown out of office.
