Bihar government gets ultimatum over doctor's killing


Patna, Dec 2 (IANS) Two groups of doctors here have given the state government till Wednesday to nab the assailants of a doctor killed late Saturday, failing which they might call an indefinite strike.

Rajnish Ranjan, 45, was killed near Bahadurpur High School here on his way back home from his clinic.

The state unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the Bihar State Health Services Association (BSHSA) would hold a meeting Tuesday to decide on the issue, IMA official Sahjanand Prasad Singh said.

BSHSA general secretary Ajay Kumar said the doctors would also take out a protest march after Tuesday.

Ranjan's killing has sent shock waves among the medical fraternity here.

A native of Ramgarh in Jharkhand district's Hazaribagh area, Ranjan was practicing here for the last few years.
