Kidnapping ganglord joins Janata Dal (United)

Patna,(BiharTimes): Keeping up with the trend notorious don Rakesh Kumar alias Chunnu Thakur, the prime accused in the infamous Kislay Kaushal kidnapping case joined the Janata Dal (United) with much
fanfare on Sunday.

Kislay is the son of the then assistant commissioner of commercial taxes, K K Gupta. None else but the then chief ministerial candidate of NDA, Nitish Kumar, strongly criticized the then Rabri Devi government for the incident. As the kidnapping of the school-boy took place on the eve of February 2005 Assembly election the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while addressing a public meeting in the state, had asked: “Kahan hai Mera Bhai Kislay” (Where is my brother Kislay.

The then Rabri Devi government had then directly accused the NDA of orchestrating this kidnapping for the political purpose and to defame the state government just ahead of the Assembly election.

But now that the same Rakesh had openly joined the Janata Dal (United) and was publicly greeted by the party leaders the RJD stands somewhat vindicated. On Monday it once again reminded the media of the same old incident.

However, the BJP, the former ally of the JD(U), has now openly dissociated itself from all such crime committed by the NDA in the past.

Former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and former minister, Giriraj Singh, have now strongly criticized former partner for taking into its fold one underworld don after another.

Anyway Rakesh faces over 20 cases of kidnapping, murder and extortion in Muzaffarpur and its adjoining areas. He has also been accused of extorting money from the staff of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University in Muzaffarpur.

A few days back two other dons, Bablu Dev of Champaran belt and Shah Alam Shabbu of Siwan joined the JD(U). The latter unsuccessfully contest the last Assembly election on LJP ticket.
