Cabinet sanctions Rs 281.24 crore for new police headquarters building


Patna,(BiharTimes): The state cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to Rs 281.24 crore for the construction of a new police headquarters building near Bailey Road in Patna.

It also granted approval to the Bihar Police Sports/Games Policy 2013 for appointment of sportspersons and out of turn promotion in the police department. Anyone aged between 18 and 23 would be ranked in the merit list on the basis of medals and achievements in 16 disciplines for appointment as constables and assistant sub-inspectors. On attaining the age of 40 years, these policemen would be appointed coaches in different sports and games discipline.
The cabinet also approved the proposal of urban development and housing department to buy 300 new buses for Patna and Bodh Gaya under the centrally-sponsored Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). A sum of Rs 43.60 crore has been sanctioned for the purpose.
The cabinet also approved the registration, excise and prohibition department’s proposal to frame a rule for manufacturing and distribution of ethanol in the state.
Now, even 10 per cent of the molasses can be used in the production of ethanol. A three-member committee would be headed by excise department secretary besides two representatives from industries and finance department for making any policy decision.

The cabinet also decided to exempt the backward and extremely backward castes students from 75 per cent attendance in pre-matriculation (class I-X) for getting scholarship amount. Now the education department will fix criteria for the scholarship entitlement.
