Shinde defends letter to Nitish after JD(U) MPs create scene in Lok Sabha

Patna,(BiharTimes): After strong protest in Lok Sabha by the Janata Dal (United) MPs the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Thursday defended his letter to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The said letter pointed out the failure of the Bihar government in fighting the Maoists’ menace.

Talking to the media in New Delhi he said it was in the interest of the state dispensation that he highlighted the issue related to Maoists’ activities. The Centre is concerned over the Bihar situation. It is the Bihar Police, which is facing the Naxals and its men have died.

Reports said that he had written letters to all the chief ministers of the Maoists’ affected states and Jammu and Kashmir asking them to take initiatives for better coordination between state and central forces in the fight against the extremists and separatists.

Earlier in the day Shinde came under attack from JD(U) MPs over what they say ‘insulting’ language used in the letter. The JD(U) members stormed into the well of Lok Sabha and demanded an apology from the Home Minister.
