Nitish assures Jagan Mohan over division of Andhra Pradesh

Patna,(BiharTimes): YSR Congress President Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday called on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to seek his support against the division of Andhra Pradesh and creation of separate Telangana state.

Nitish, whose party Janata Dal (United) supported the bifurcation of Bihar and creation of Jharkhand 13 years back, said that Jagan Mohan’s opposition to the division of his state is valid.

Jagan Mohan, who was accompanied by two of his party’s MPs, ,Rajmohan Reddy and S P Y Reddy, claimed that Nitish heard his plea seriously and shared his concerns.

Nitish said Jagan Mohan has a valid point that state has not been consulted for partition of Andhra Pradesh. “Though there is provision in the Constitution that a new state can be created through a simple majority but this is against a set tradition of democracy in the country,” he said.

He assured the visiting leader that he would discuss the issue in JD(U) to protest “misuse” of Article 3 of the Constitution. The two leaders denied any talks on formation of a Third Front in the country.

Jagan Mohan told the media after the meeting that he had come to seek support of Bihar chief minister against Congress party’s highhandedness on the issue of division of Andhra Pradesh without consulting the state.

Jagan Mohan had met several regional satraps such as Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Navin Patnaik and Sharad Yadav to seek support for united Andhra.
