Stand of party MPs Shatrughan Sinha, Uday Singh on Lalu befuddles BJP

Patna,(Bihar): The Patna Saheb MP, Shatrughan Sinha, and Purnea MP Uday Singh on Sunday caused a lot of embarrassment to the Bharatiya Janata Party by openly differing with the party’s established stand on conviction of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in foddefr scam case.

Bihari Babu went to the extend of calling on Rabri Devi at her residence in Patna and greeted her and her children.
Later while talking to the media he said that “I went there as a family friend…I still wish that Laluji return to Parliament in a way that the integrity of the Constitution is not violated.”
He said that he had met Rabri Bhabhi in individual capacity as “we have a very old relationship with the family. No political meaning should be made out of it.”
He did not stop there, but went on to shower praise on Lalu Yadav. Departing from other BJP leaders he said that Laluji is not only the leader of the state, but he is Bihar gaurav (pride) and a big leader of the country.

As if that was not enough came the statement of BJP’s Purnea MP, Uday Singh. A noted critic of chief minister Nitish Kumar he said that he personally believes that there is no solid evidence against Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam. In fact the evidence is more strong against Nitish Kumar as the main accused had himself said on affidavit that he had given money to Nitish Kumar. He had not said any such thing about Lalu Yadav, the BJP MP said on the eve of Nitish Kumar’s Sankalp Rally in Purnea on Sunday.
Uday, who is the brother of JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP, N K Singh, has also asked several questions from Nitish Kumar ahead of the latter’s rally in his parliamentary constituency.
It is true that unlike other BJP leaders, Shatrughan Sinha and Uday Singh have always appreciated Lalu Yadav. Observers are of the view that the two BJP MPs want to keep the RJD chief in good humour ahead of Lok Sabha poll. As RHD is emerging as a force they want Lalu not to put up strong candidates against them.
It needs to be mentioned that the name of Shatrughan Sinha also figured in the list of BJP leaders who donated money to Janata Dal (United) two years back. The BiharTimes did a special story on it.
Anyway the statements of the two leaders have come as a surprise to the BJP leaders as after all Lalu was convicted in the fodder scam case after a prolong legal battle in which the party leaders like Sushil Kumar Modi played a major role.
