State unit asked to prepare for all 40 seats: BPCC chief

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Ashok Chaudhary, reiterated that his party’s central leadership had asked the state unit to make preparations for all the 40 Lok Sabha seats for the coming Lok Sabha election.

Talking to the reporters in Patna on Sunday he once again brushed aside all the media speculations about the grand secular alliance and add that till now nothing had been finalized.

On RJD and LJP leaders expressing confidence that an alliance is very much in the offing he said it would be better to ask them.

Chaudhary returned to Patna only after meeting the party president Sonia Gandhi and vice president, Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday and Friday. RJD chief Lalu Prasad also left for Delhi on Friday and is likely to hold talks with the senior Congress leaders on the issue of alliance.

But the central leadership of the party is keeping the card close to its chest. Therefore, it has asked the state unit to carry on with the preparations to contest all the 40 seats.

Meanwhile, Congress party workers led by its state unit chief took the brooms in their hands for the second Sunday in succession to undertake the cleanliness drive in Patna.

Like last Sunday he once again denied that the drive had anything to do with politics and claimed that it was aimed at generating awareness among the citizens.
