Independent Banka MP Putul Singh to contest on BJP ticket

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Independent MP from Banka, Putul Singh, on Wednesday announced that she would be contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha election on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket.
Putul is the widow of former minister of state and Janata Dal (United) MP from Banka, Digvijay Singh, who in 2009 election won as Independent after his reported differences with the chief minister Nitish Kumar.
However, he died in England in 2010 and his wife contested the election as an Independent though the Janata Dal (United) indirectly supported her candidature. The party did not put up its candidate in the by-poll.
But, of late, she has been in close touch with the BJP leaders and, according to reports, even attended the Hunkar Rally on October 27.
Disclosing his plan to contest on the BJP ticket she claimed that the BJP alone would win more than 272 seats and form the government at the Centre under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
Sources said that the announcement came after the Janata Dal (United) showed no interest in assuring ticket to her.
But analysts are of the view that she tried to join hands with the BJP because of the diminishing stock of the Janata Dal (United).
Another Independent MP, O P Yadav, who won from Siwan, is also planning to contest on the BJP ticket.
