Builders, government hold talks on proposed building by-laws

Patna,(BiharTimes): After a strong protest over the proposed building by-laws the builders on Saturday held talks with the urban development department secretary, S Sidhartha. They later said that the talks were satisfactory and the state government has agreed to look into all the points and suggestions made by them.

The proposed building by-laws, which is awaiting cabinet nod, is being strongly opposed by the builders and realtors, who even took to the streets of Patna on Thursday. They raised slogans against the by-laws and stalled the traffic movement on Fraser Road and Dak Bungalow roundabout for several hours in the peak afternoon hours of Thursday. The protest even turned a bit violent when a few protesters were detained at Kotwali police station.

Later, a delegation of National Builders’ Association handed over a memorandum against the by-laws to Shivdeep Lande, ADC to the governor.

The government decided to hold talks on Saturday after this protest.

The department has already sought opinion of the citizens on the proposed by-laws.
