Patna HC stops appointment of untrained teachers, asks govt to refund fees

Patna,(BiharTimes): A single bench of Justice Samarendra Pratap Singh of Patna High Court on Wednesday ordered the state government to refund examination fees of all untrained candidates who had taken the Bihar Secondary Teachers Eligibility Test 2011 as no untrained candidates can be appointed in secondary and higher secondary schools.

The Court ordered that there would be no appointment of untrained teachers even if they have passed the teachers eligibility test (TET) for the posts of secondary and higher secondary teachers in government schools.

Prabhat Kumar and other trained teachers challenged the government’s decision on the ground that the National Council of Teachers Education (NCTE) had not yet given clearance to the state government for the appointment of any teacher without having the BEd degree.
