Sharad distances himself from Shivanand Tiwari’s remarks

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav on Tuesday distanced itself from the spokesperson and general secretary of the party Shivanand Tiwari’s remarks that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Majlis Ittihad-e-Muslemeen leader Akbaruddin Owaisi were “two sides of the same coin”.
Talking to the media in New Delhi he said these were his personal views and the party has nothing to do with it and the party has nothing to do with them. However, he ruled out any disciplinary action against Tiwari.

Referring to Tiwari’s criticism of Sharad for reportedly supporting Khap Panchayats he said he does not have any problem with what Tiwari said against him and that the party promotes discussions on several issues

However, the Janata Dal (United) chief clarified his stand on Khap panchayats, and said he had never supported such practices.

“Be it me or anyone else, I don't have any issues,” he said.On BJP’s sharp reaction against Tiwari, he said, one must see to it that feelings of those who work with the Janata Dal (United) are not hurt. Such things should not happen.

Sharad said that the controversy on this issue should come to an end now, as both BJP and RSS leaders have explained their stand in detail.

Sharad, however, demanded strict action against Owaisi for making inflammatory speeches. This is not the first time that Shivanand Tiwari had shot his mouth off. But political observers are of the view that his statements are part of well thought out strategy of the party. Not only that his Rajya Sabha term is ending this year and he may be saying so to please one powerful section within the Janata Dal (United).
