Nitish govt’s response to Uttarakhand tragedy criminal: BJP

Patna,(BiharTimes): Former deputy chief minister and Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council Sushil Kumar Modi termed as the criminal negligence the Nitish Kumar government’s delayed and token response to relief and rescue operations in disaster-hit Uttarakhand.

Talking to the media he said a fortnight after the tragedy four Bihar government officials have been sharing information and are not able to say how many people from the state they had traced and rescued.

The Bihar BJP had earlier attacked the state government for showing utter insensitiveness to rescue former state health minister, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, who got trapped in the disaster. His close relatives, security guards and priest died in the disaster.

It was finally after the intervention of BJP chief Rajnath Singh, who took up the matter with the Uttarakhand government, that he could be rescued.

Modi said that the Bihar team could start its work in Uttarakhand only after June 24, that is, eight days after the disaster struck. He said over hundreds of people from Bihar are still missing.

Meanwhile, JD(U) national spokesp-erson and Rajya Sabha MP Shivanand Tiwari, claimed that the state government had responded well and had been putting its best efforts in Uttarakhand.

Criticizing the tall claim that the Gujarat government had rescued 15,000 Gujaratis from Uttarakhand just in over a day time Tiwari said Nitish Kumar is neither a Robinhood nor a Rambo. He said so referring to Narendra Modi.
