JD(U) revokes suspension of three MPs

Patna,(BiharTimes): Seriously weakened by the police the Janata Dal (United) has revoked the suspension of its three MPs against whom disqualification petition had been filed with the Lok Sabha Speaker.

In 2010 it had suspended Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan, Sushil Kumar Singh and Mangni Lal Mandal for anti-party activities. A few weeks back Lalan Singh was taken back into the party fold.

The Deputy leader of the Janata Dal (United) in the Lok Sabha, Ranjan Prasad Yadav, who had filed the disqualification petition, said on Wednesday that it has been withdrawn.

Political observers are of the view that as the Janata Dal (United) wants to contest all the 40 Lok Sabha seats it can not afford to lose three senior members of Parliament.

Though Ranjan talked about three MPs the state JD (U) chief Vashishtha Narayan Singh, according to reports, made reference of only Lalan and Sushil and did not name Mangani Lal Mandal, who had been battling a legal battle over bigamy.

He told media that for all practical purpose, the two MPs are very much in the party and attending the meetings. They neither quit the party nor indulged in anti-party activities at later stage, he added.
