Properties worth over Rs five crore seized in raids

Patna,(BiharTimes): The sleuths of economic offence unit (EOU) of Bihar police on Tuesday carried out raids at seven premises of two state government officials and unearthed properties worth over Rs five crore disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Raids were conducted at four premises of an executive engineer of rural works department (RWD), Ramchandra Gupta, in Patna, Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi and documents related to properties worth Rs 2.18 crore were seized. He is at present posted in Nawada.

Raids were also conducted at four premises of deputy director of education department, Radha Krishna Singh Yadav, who is presently posted in Patna. Documents and property worth Rs 2.29 crore were seized from him.

According to ADG (headquarters) Ravindra Kumar the raids were conducted at Gupta’s flat number 402 of Shail Regency at Arya Samaj Road under Danapur police station area.

Two other raids were conducted at his residence at Daudpur Kothi in Muzaffarpur and the rented house at Dumra Road under Nagar police station area in Sitamarhi district.

Seven passbooks have been seized but the amounts of bank balance is yet to be ascertained.
