MCI allows IGIMS to take admission for 2013-14

Patna,(BiharTimes): Following a letter written by chief minister Nitish Kumar to the Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad the Medical Council of India has given green signal to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences to admit students in the MBBS classes. The MCI had earlier denied the permission for admission in the academic year 2013-14.

It has also given a go ahead via a letter of intent for the government medical college in Bettiah to start functioning.

The MCI had already granted permission to start MBBS course at the upcoming government medical college at Pawapuri in Nalanda district. Now Bihar will have in total 740 MBBS seats.

The counselling process for MBBS students for 2013 would start soon. It has to be completed before July 31.

In a communication to the state government the MCI has permitted admission to 100 MBBS seats in IGIMS for this academic calendar.
