Bihar minister Parween Amanullah attacked in Vaishali district

Patna,(BiharTimes): The social welfare minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet, Parween Amanullah, was on Thursday attacked by a mob near Hajipur while she was on way to Muzaffarpur from Patna.

The people were reportedly furious over the death of 23 school-children in a Saran village after taking mid-day meal.

According to reports Parween Amanullah was held up for some time by a mob in Vaishali district which was agitating over the midday meal tragedy in Saran.

The protesters had blocked National Highway-77 near Rai Birendra College, about five km from Hajipur town. They pelted her car with stones, forcing it to halt.

“I was stopped by the mob for nearly 15 minutes before police came and escorted my car to safety... Stones hit my car while I was sitting inside,” Amanullah was quoted by the PTI.

She said she cancelled her programme and returned to Patna after the incident.

Vaishali SP Suresh Chaudhary confirmed the incident.

Another report said that Parween and some CDPOs were involved in a verbal duel in Saran district on Wednesday where she had reportedly gone in some other engagement.

Incidentally, neither the chief minister nor his cabinet colleague or even top officials of the state government have dared to visit the Saran village till yet.
