BJP accuses Nitish of luring its MLAs to distract attention from Saran tragedy

Patna,(BiharTimes): Even as Bihar BJP on Sunday suspended one of its MLAs Amarnath Gami, the saffron party strongly denounced chief minister Nitish Kumar for what they alleged playing politics and trying to lure its legislators when the state has not yet overcome the tragic death of 23 school-children in Saran on July 16.

While party chief, Mangal Pandey––who suspended Gami for his anti-party activities––challenged Nitish to expand his cabinet former minister Giriraj Singh said that it is shocking that JD(U) is trying to lure his party’s MLAs at the height of such a tragedy. He blamed the chief minister for the lack of compassion and said that he would approach the DGP to seek the whereabouts of Nitish Kumar. “Where has this man been for the last five days. Nobody has seen him or heard anything from him. Where is he hiding?”
On the other hand the former state party chief, Dr C P Thakur, said that if the Janata Dal (United) is out to split the BJP, “we can also do the same as several JD(U) legislators are waiting to join us.”

Mangal Pandey said that his party’s MLAs are being lured away. They are being offered ministership and their relatives are being promised seats in the Legislative Council.

He claimed that the day the chief minister expands his cabinet there would be a split in JD(U). So, he is trying to increase his numbers in the Assembly.

On the other hand state BJP vice-president Sanjay Mayukh said his party chief suspended Gami for anti-party activities. Gami is BJP MLA from Hayaghat in Darbhanga district. He had accused former deputy chief minister Modi of being power hungry, monopolizing party affairs and promoting sycophants while neglecting genuine workers like him.

The JD(U), however, claimed there was panic in BJP and that eight of its MLAs are ready to cross over as they were unhappy with their leadership. Some other reports suggest that their number may be even more.
