But was Shivanand actually the JD(U)’s national spokesman?

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though reports from New Delhi say that Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav has dropped Shivanand Tiwari as his party’s spokesman and appointed K C Tyagi in his place, state chief minister Nitish Kumar, said in a Press conference in Patna on Wednesday that he has not been removed.

Shivanand was replaced by Rajya Sabha MP and a close confidant of Sharad Yadav as the chief spokesman of the party.

But the big question is: whether Shivanand was actually the spokesman of the party or not. The BiharTimes in April last did a story highlighting as to how a JD(U) leader had lodged a case against his own party chief Sharad Yadav for submitting forged documents to Election Commission, violating party constitution.

The case was lodged by one of its Secretaries, Shivraj Singh. Case lodged against Sharad Yadav for submitting forged documents to EC, violating party

Singh also alleged that Sharad cannot become the president of the party for the third time as there is no provision in party’s constitution in this regard.

Singh elaborated while talking to BiharTimes that party’s own constitution specifically states in article viii sub clause (3) “No party office bearer shall be eligible to hold the same office for third consecutive term.”

Making the issue public Shivraj Singh had then said the party had not amended its constitution to make Sharad its national president for the third time last week.

Shivraj has also lodged a case in Vasant Kunj police station in New Delhi on Thursday (April 18) against Sharad accusing him of forgery. He said that last time when Sharad became the party president in 2010 he had prepared two lists of party office-bearers. While he sent one to the media he submitted quite a different one to the Election Commission. He has done so to manipulate in the future.
