Shatru meets Nitish, causes flutter in friends’ camp

Patna,(BiharTimes): When all the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have trained their big guns on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar cinestar-cum-Patna Saheb MP, Shatrughan Sinha, called on him to inquire about his health.

The move came after Bihari Babu’s statement before the media on Tuesday in which he once again batted for BJP patriarch, Lal Krishna Advani.

He called Advani as the tallest leader who should not be ignored and said due respect should be paid to leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Yashwant Sinha, Murli Manohar Joshi and Arun Jaitley, whom he called Chanakya. The MP also said that given his age Ram Jethmalani should be treated well and added that "I do not care for any party post.”

His anti-Narendra Modi stand and pro-Nitish move caused a storm in the party circle. What is more surprising is that Shatrughan has always been a bitter critic of Bihar chief minister’s style of functioning and on a couple of occasions openly praised RJD chief Lalu Yadav. Even then he now went to meet Nitish.

Political observers are of the view that there are more than one leaders in the BJP who are eyeing for Patna Saheb seat. Most prominent among them are Ravi Shankar Prasad, who belongs to Shatru’s caste and former Patna MP, Dr C P Thakur, who has thrown his full weight behind Narendra Modi. They both are now Rajya Sabha MP.

After all it remains to be seen as to why Shatrughan came to inquire about Nitish’s health 11 days after he received injuries on his toe.

Talking to the media for the first time after the Saran tragedy on Wedneday evening Nitish said “Shatrughan Sinha ji came to meet me and to inquire about my health.”
Rubbing salt into the BJP’s wound he even thanked the Lok Sabha member from Patna Saheb and added “he is a great actor and a good human being.”
