Contractor killed, engineer injured inside office in Dumraon

Patna,(BiharTimes): A contractor was shot dead and an executive engineer of rural works department Chandra Kishore Saha was seriously injured by unidentified criminals at Dumraon in Buxar district on Friday afternoon. The incident took place in the official chamber of the executive engineer. The name of the contractor could not be known.

According to the police the incident took place at around 3:00 PM when Saha was with the contractor in the chamber. Two criminals barged into the office and fired indiscriminately and then walked out. They then sped away on bike. While the contractor died instantly Saha received three bullets. He was rushed to the local hospital, but was soon referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

Buxar district magistrate, Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, and superintendent of police, S M Jain, rushed to the spot.

Police is yet to ascertain the movtie behind the attack. No arrest has been made.

Reports from Dumraon said Saha has earlier apprehended an attack on his life and the local police had even provided security to him. The guard reportedly returned two rounds of fire and chased the criminals.

The SP claimed that the police had secured a definite clue about the criminals involved in the incident and raids are being carried out in the area.

One person was detained for interrogation.

The Bihar Engineering Service Association and Sub-ordinate Engineers Association condemned the incident and sought arrest of culprits.
