Council Vice Chairman blames ministers, party leaders for Maharajganj debacle

Patna,(BiharTimes): The vice chairman of the State Legislative Council and senior Janata Dal (United) leader Salim Parwez on Friday squarely blamed some senior party leaders and ministers for the defeat of its candidate from Maharajganj, Prashant Kumar Shahi.

Accusing them of sabotaging the prospects of Shahi he said he would submit a report to chief minister Nitish Kumar, detailing the reasons behind the defeat. It will be discussed at the review meeting of the party.

He said preference to family relationship by some senior JD(U) leaders was visible during the campaign. Parwez said he was collecting facts and figures to substantiate his arguments.

Denying the allegation that he toodeserted Shahi the vice chairman said the education minister stayed at his Chhapra house during the electioneering. He said he left the constituency after the polling was over and went to New Delhi to meet his children who are studying there.

Grapevine has it that the party candidate had even scolded a minister who hails from Saran during the campaign, compelling him to return to Patna midway through the electioneering. The minister, who is also related to the RJD candidate, Prabhunath Singh, complained about the incident to senior party colleagues and some ministers.
