Nitish harming Advani by championing his cause

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is these days busy championing the cause of former deputy prime minister and BJP patriarch Lal Krishan Advani to further his own agenda.

But the political observers are of the view that he is doing the greatest disservice not only to Advani but to his ownself too. By taking Advani’s side too strongly the Bihar chief minister is harming him and lowering his prestige within the party. Now that a large number of people within the BJP is gradually reconciling to the reality that Modi is more likely to be the prime ministerial candidate of the party Nitish is unnecessarily fighting the proxy war for Advani.on Monday hit back at Nitish by stating that Advani is the respectable leader of his party and Nitish should not be so much bothered about him. In fact he should first explain what treatment he had meted to the former defence minister and the then NDA convener, George Fernandes.

Incidentally, Fernandes was even denied ticket from Muzaffarpur parliamentary constituency in 2009.
After the meek withdrawal of resignation letter by Advani many BJP leaders are falling in line or are likely to do so in near future. They now see futility in espousing his cause too much.

In such a situation it is totally useless for Nitish Kumar to champion his cause. After all the BJP is not going to split any more and that too not for the cause of Nitish Kumar.

The Bihar chief minister is now in the corner as the BJP has provided to the media the CD of the statement given by Nitish Kumar in Gujarat in 2003 in which he showered fulsome praise to Narendra Modi and urged him to play much bigger role at the national level.

The CD has pushed Nitish to the corner. Though on Monday he did try to defend it by stating that he was attending an official function there it could not cut much ice.
