Blood on Patna streets after clashes between JD(U), BJP supporters

Patna,(BiharTimes): Many people were injured, some of them seriously, in a large-scale violence outside the state office of Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday.

Those who received injuries included the Janata Dal (United) spokesperson, Rajiv Ranjan.

Interestingly, when the clash started top BJP leaders were inside the party headquarters. This included deputy chief minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, former Union ministers, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Syed Shahnawaz Husain, state party chief Mangal Pandey and others.

They assembled there to take out procession later in the day. But after the violence they held a core committee meeting to chalk out next course of action.

On the other hand Rajiv Ranjan Singh and others, who received injuries, lodged FIR in Kotwali police station against top BJP leaders for instigating violence and provoking supporters to attack them.

The clash took place when a large number of JD(U) workers led by Rajiv Ranjan, took out a victory procession. They were seen asking the shop-keepers to open their shops. Not only that they started raising slogans “Narendra Modi Murdabad, Nitish Kumar Zindabad” just outside the BJP office.

This infuriated the saffron party supporters and in the clash several people were injured.

What is interesting is that never in Bihar’s history had any rival political party tried to so blatantly oppose the shutdown (bandh).

The BJP leaders alleged that what prompted the JD(U) workers to took to the streets. After all Rajiv Ranjan is a sober face of the JD(U) and one never expected such a ‘goondagardi’ from them. comments powered by Disqus
