Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology principal caught accepting bribe

Patna,(BiharTimes): The principal of Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT), Dhruv Prasad, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 1.5 lakh as bribe.

Prasasd is also holding the post of Director, Science and Technology department, on deputation.
According to P K Thakur, DG (Vigilance), Prasad was nabbed by the vigilance sleuths late on Sunday night while taking bribe from Charanjit Singh, development officer Patna Saheb Group of Colleges, to allow evening shift teaching for ITI.

He said Chitranjan Srivastava, a tout, was also arrested on the charge of taking Rs 50,000 as bribe in course of verification on behalf of MIT principal.

The Vigilance sleuths searched Prasad’s house located on the MIT campus to assess the value of his assets till the wee hours of Monday.

Incidentally, the raid on MIT principal came eight days after the arrest of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Katihar Medical College, Ashfaque Karim, in Patna last Saturday. A large amount of money and question papers and answer sheets were recovered from his house.

A day later on Sunday (June 16) the entrance exam of this medical college was scheduled.

However, the Lok Janshakti Party state president, Pashupati Kumar Paras and national general secretary Satyanand Sharma, on Sunday strongly criticized the Nitish government for the raid and alleged that Karim is being harassed because he is the national vice president of the LJP. They alleged that Nitish is against the minorities institution and accused him of indulging in revenge politics.

The two LJP leaders alleged that since the supporters of Kosi Bedari Morcha protested when chief minister Nitish Kumar visited Katihar during the Sewa Yatra recently, he ordered raids.Karim is the convenor of the Morcha.

Not only that Karim was singled out for harassment because Katihar Medical College refused to take admission of the wards of some influential politicians, they charged.
