Narendra Modi rings up injured Lalu

Patna,(BiharTimes): RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who sustained head injury in a freak car accident on Friday night, got a somewhat strange phone call on Saturday.

Of all the BJP leaders of Bihar and India it was Gujarat chief minister, Narendra Modi, who rang him up to inquire about his health condition. Lalu thanked him for calling him up.

On the other hand the Janata Dal (United) general secretary, Shivanand Tiwary, called on him to inquire about his condition.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar has not yet called on Lalu.

Though it was just a courtesy call by Modi observers are attaching political meaning to it as the Gujarat chief minister has taken lead over his Bihar counterpart.

Bharatiya Janata Party state president Mangal Pandey said Modi telephoned Lalu Prasad out of courtesy.

"Modi has again proved that he cares even for critic like Lalu," Pandey said.

It needs to be recalled that Lalu sustained injuries in his head and face when the windshield of his Innova accidently broke while he was going to Raghopur in Vaishali district late on Friday evening.

He was immediately rushed to the Rajeshwar Hospital in Patna, where he was given medical treatment. After two stitches and bandages on his head, Lalu was discharged from the hospital.

The incident reportedly took place around 9:15 PM when Lalu was crossing Ganga on the Pontoon bridge near Kachchi Dargah on way to Raghopur. The car got stuck in the middle of the bridge and due to the sudden jerk, the windshield broke.

Lalu, who was sitting on the front seat, sustained injuries in the head and his face also got grazed as the broken windshield glasses hit him.

Meanwhile, on Saturday injured Lalu, as per programme, addressed public meetings in Vaishali district.
