Bihar densiest state in the country

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar is the densiest state in the country to be followed by West Bengal.

The Primary Census Abstract 2011 released recently said Bihar has a population density of 1,106 people per sq km, while West Bengal is in second place with 1,028. The former has thus also displaced the latter for the top spot, as its density in 2001 was 881, second to West Bengal, where 903 people used to live per square kilometre.

Thus the two states have more dense population than Bangladesh, where 964 people live in every square kilometre. Thus it is the densiest country in the world––minus the city-states of Monaco, Singapore, Bahrain, Maldives and Malta. These tiny countries are more densely populated but have the area of less than 1,000 sq km.

The density of India is just 382.

However, the less cause of worry for Bihar is that it has large rural population and has no metropolitan centre, which faces more problem of drinking water shortage, sanitation, hygiene, living space etc.
