Bihar imposes 10 per cent surcharge on petrol

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): The state cabinet on Tuesday decided to levy 10 per cent surcharge on petrol and 15 per cent on tobacco products, except bidi, which would be borne by the manufacturers.

The cabinet also nodded creating a rule for import and sale of foreign made liquor and wine to check their sale on black market and earn more in the form of excise tax.
Besides, Justice Navin Sinha of the Patna high court has been nominated as executive chairman of Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA). It has been decided to appoint 92 armoury guards for different places, including the BMP.
The cabinet approved the decision to make green peas, rajma, kurtha, and oxygen used for medical purposes tax-free.
It also approved the dismissal of assistant engineer of road construction department Ajay Kumar Yadav, who was placed under suspension.
The government has appointed on contract basis Navnit Ranjan Tiwari, joint secretary (retd), in the parliamentary affairs department for two years.
The cabinet also gave its nod for drawing and expending Rs14.84 cr of central fund and Rs 400 crore of state money for the midday meal scheme.
