Five CNLU students suspended on charge of abusing a senior girl

Patna,(BiharTimes): Five students of fourth-year belonging to Chanakya National Law University have been suspended after they allegedly abused a girl student of fifth year on May 4 last.

The University has taken action against Piyush Kumar, Tarun Kumar, Sanchay, Prince Bharti and Jayant Kumar after that incident.

This is not the first time that such clashes have taken place, especially between fourth year and fifth year students, sometimes even leading to loss of property.

The fifth year girl student was reportedly abused and threatened by a group of fourth-year students when she was out on an evening stroll.

According to reports the fifth year and third-year students staged protests seeking strict action against the accused. They staged a sit in till Wednesday when the university administration finally decided to suspend the five fourth-year students involved in the incident.

Reports also said that after Saturday’s incident, the CNLU authorities tried to resolve the situation through talks but later succumbed to pressure from the third- and fifth-year students.

The suspended students are directed to immediately vacate their respective rooms in the hostel. Failure to comply with the order will entail serious consequences, including rustication from the university.

Vice-chancellor A Lakshminath warned that the University is not going to tolerate such incidents. The suspension of the students from the hostel is a warning to the others to strictly follow the CNLU’s rules and regulations.
