Juhi tops in ISc exam in Bihar

 


Patna,(Bihartimes): 93.25 per cent girls and 91.45 per cent boys passed the Intermediate Science (ISc) examinations conducted by Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). The top three positions were held by the girls. The third position was in fact shared by a boy and a girl. There were seven girls in top 10.
Juhi, a student of Sir Ganesh Dutt Memorial College, West Bailey Road, Patna was declared the overall topper with 420 marks (84 per cent). 

Raushan Kumar (417) of Sri Sri 108 M R J D I College, Begusarai, was ranked second followed by Varshaa of V R College, Vaishali and Shekhar Suman of B M College, Munger, who shared the third position with 416 marks.

Other students who ranked in top 10 are: Rahul Raj, Aastha, Kumar Abhinandan, Shalini, Sonal Agrawal, Adarsh Aman, Lalit Kumar, Monika Kumari, Rupam Kumari, Shilpi Kumar, Mohammad Shahid, Ritika Raj, Rajan Kumar, Neeraj Kumar, Hemant Kumar and Amit Ranjan.

BSEB chairman Rajmani Prasad Singh, who announced the result and secretary Lalan Jha said the overall pass percentage of ISc continues to improve. 

He said 51.22% students passed with first division and 39.57% in second division.

Jha said that BSEB’s decision to declare science results before arts and commerce streams came in the wake of the new JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) pattern where the Class-12 marks would carry 40 per cent weightage.

Over 3.68 lakh students, including 2.82 lakh boys and 86,000 girls, had filled the forms for the ISc exams but only 3.62 lakh students appeared at the exams, including over 2.77 lakh boys and 84,818 girls. Altogether, 26,684 students failed the examinations while results of 1,460 examinees are pending.

Patna was on top among the administrative divisions with a pass percentage of 93.59 per cent to be followed by Magadh (92.67 per cent), Tirhut (92.8 per cent), Saran (90.38 per cent) and Darbhanga (88.49 per cent).

The ICSE class 10 and 12 results would be declared on May 17 while the CBSE results are expected shortly.
