Lalu’s Alsatian remark dogs JD(U) MLC

Patna,(BiharTimes): In a unique development Janata Dal (United) MLC, Sanjay Singh, gave a classic caste twist to RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s remark about him and another party leader Sanjay Jha.

He has threatened to drag Lalu to court for having called him an “Alsatian” at the RJD’s Parivartan Rally on Wednesday.

Talking to media Sanjay Singh said he would file a criminal case and a defamation suit as Lalu, while addressing the two Sanjays in his speech, called them “Alsatian”.

“I am a Kshatriya and Sanjay Jha a Brahmin. Lalu’s remarks are an attack on the Kshatriya and Brahmin communities, he is jealous of upper castes,” Sanjay Singh told the media a day after the May 15 Parivartan Rally.

However, RJD appeared to be surprised over Sanjay Singh’s giving the whole issue a caste colour.

Party MP Ram Kripal Yadav said Lalu is always surrounded by upper caste leaders. Regarding the ‘Alsatian’ remarks, Ram Kripal said he does not think he was referring to him as a dog.

“Show me a dictionary that lists Alsatian as ‘dog’. Despite all this, if anyone feels that he is a dog, then we can’t help it,” Ram Kripal told the media.

The truth is that the term Alsatian is referred to the people of Alsace in eastern France bordering Germany. During World War-II and post-war years German Shepherd Dogs were renamed as Alsatian Wolf Dogs because of the anti-German sentiment. But in 1977 the old names was restored and now there is no such thing as Alsatian Dogs.
