BASA seeks probe into JD(U) MLA’s misbehaviour

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): The state executive committee meeting of Bihar Administrative Service Association (BASA) held on Sunday sought a probe into alleged unruly behaviour by Khagaria JD(U) MLA, Poonam Devi Yadav, and Zila Parishad chairperson Krishna Yadav, with Khagaria’s senior deputy collector Anand Prasad on May 13.

Poonam is the wife of local strongman, Ranvir Yadav, and he too was reportedly involved in the incident. It was he who, snatched the rifle from a bodyguard and opened fire in the air when chief minister Nitish Kumar was being shown black flags and pelted with stones during the Adhikar Rally in Khagaria last September.

Condemning the incident the BASA demanded action against all those involved in May 13 incident.
It alleged that the MLA and zila parishad chairperson also used abusive language against Prasad.
BASA also condemned the arrest of another senior deputy collector-rank officer, Mukesh Agrawal, without any warrant on May 15.

According to the Association president, Suresh Kumar Sharma, way back in 2007, Agrawal was posted as Jamalpur BDO and as such was in charge of MNREGA. Recently, the then Munger DM, after an inquiry, found him innocent. The Association has demanded the government to set up an inquiry committee headed by the Munger divisional commissioner to look into charges against the deputy collector.

The Executive Committee also expressed happiness over the start of construction work of the Association's building after a lapse of nearly one decade. The members have decided to donate a sum of Rs 2,000 each.

The meeting condoled the death of its four senior members W N Singh, Vinay Sharan Verma, Sunita Srivastava and Mohammad Mustakeem. They also observed two-minute silence in their memory.
