Like in ISc Patna girl tops ICom exam too

 


Patna,(BiharTimes): As in ISc girls did better than boys in Intermediate Commerce (ICom) examination of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). Once again a Patna girl topped the list.
In all eight girls––save one boy––occupied all the top five positions.
Ankita Singh, a student of College of Commerce in Patna, topped the exam, scoring 81.4 per cent (406 marks). Altogether 14 girls made it to the toppers’ club of 20 students who ranked 1st to 8th. Preeti Ranjan of M B D College, Darbhanga stood second position with 397 marks. Rishita Kumari of Mirza Ghalib College, Gaya ended up only one mark behind Preeti.
Other top rankers are Puja Choudhary (Bhagalpur), Nilam Kumari (Gaya), Prerna Barnwal (Gaya), Aafreen Warsi (Muzaffarpur), Rahul Kumar (West Champaran), Nishu Kumari (Madhubani), Sujeet Kumar (Darbhanga), Sachin Kumar (Munger), Pratibha Kumari (Gaya), Reena Kumari (Gaya), Puja Shah (East Champaran), Ajay Kumar (West Champaran), Akram Ali (West Champaran), Ranjeet Kumar Ray (Madhubani), Shruti Saurav (Patna), Shaiyma Reyaz (Gaya) and Ruchi Kumari (Madhubani).
The BSEB chairman Rajmani Prasad Singh and secretary Lalan Jha, while announcing the results, said the overall pass percentage had increased by nearly three per cent from 91.91 per cent in 2012 to 94.43 per cent in 2013. The pass percentage in 2011 was 94.47 per cent. "While 96.57 per cent girls passed the examination, boys fell slightly behind at 93.82 per cent. In fact, the pass percentage of girls in ICom is higher than that in ISc.
Only 33.01 per cent could pass the examination with first division while 54.91 per cent passed with second division. Of the 73,638 examinees, 6.13 per cent students passed with third division while 3,625 students failed. The results of 306 students are pending. The results can also be seen on BSEB website www.biharboard.net.
Among the state's different divisions, Saran topped the chart with a pass percentage of 96.35 while Darbhanga with a pass percentage of 95.7 and Tirhut with a pass percentage of 95.14 lagged behind Saran. The Patna division's pass percentage of 94.32 was a little less than the overall pass percentage of 94.43.
Incidentally, education minister P K Shahi was once again not present on the occasion of announcement of result as he is busy in the election campaign in Maharajganj. He is contesting the by-election on JD(U) ticket.
