Patna terrorism suspect buried by Bihar Police

Patna, Nov 4 (IANS) Bihar Police Monday buried Ainul alias Tarique, a suspect in the serial bomb blasts in the Bihar capital, who died last week at a hospital here of injuries in the brain.

Patna Superintendent of Police (Railway) Upendra Kumar Singh said Ainul was buried as "lawaris" (unclaimed body) after his family refused to accept the body and perform the last rites.

"After his family refused to claim the body for the last rites, police buried him Monday evening at Pirmohani burial ground in Patna, in accordance with religious practice," the superintendent of police said.

Six people were killed and nearly 100 injured in seven bomb blasts in Patna Oct 27, hours before BJP prime minister candidate Narendra Modi addressed a rally in the city's Gandhi Maidan. Six of the seven blasts also occurred either at or in the vicinity of the rally's venue.

One explosion occurred at the railway station in the heart of the city. Ainul, who was reportedly setting a timer to that bomb, was injured as it exploded. He died Friday at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna.

Ainul's 70-year-old father Ataullah Ansari, a resident of Dhurva in Ranchi, Jharkhand, declared that he would not take custody of the body.

"After I heard that he was involved in an act of terrorism and seriously injured, I announced that he was not my son... where is the question of claiming his body," the father had asked, asserting that Islam had no place for such acts.
