JD(U) slams BJP for playing politics with Asthi Kalash Yatra

Patna,(BiharTimes): As the Asthi Kalash Yatra of the six people who died in the Patna serial blasts culminated the Janata Dal (United) strongly criticised the BJP for exploiting the tragedy for political reasons.

Questioning the motives of BJP the JD(U) spokesman, Alok Ajay, asked whether the Yatra was organized to express sympathy with the victims of Patna blasts or was it an attempt to polarise voters?

He asked why is it that the customary rituals of 13 days not been performed? Why was the slogans like BJP Zindabad and Narendra Modi Zindabad raised during Asthi Kalash Yatra?

The latest attack came after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his party MPs, K C Tyagi and Shivanand Tiwari and state JD(U) president Vashisth Narayan Singh strongly denounced the second visit of Narendra Modi to Bihar. They all criticized the BJP for vitiating the communal atmosphere of Bihar.

The party has equated Asthi Kalash Yatra to a similar Yatra undertaken in Gujarat after the burning of S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express on Feb 27, 2002. It was this Yatra which sparked off communal riots leading to the death of a large number of Muslims and destruction of property worth crores.

But the BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi denied that his party was seeking political mileage by Asthi Kalash Yatra. He refuted the charge of creating polarisation by stating that “we did not say anything against any community during the Yatra.”

He once again accused the state government of not providing proper security to the people who had gathered at Gandhi Maidan on Hunkar Rally day.
