Trainee IAS officer hailing from Bihar killed in Punjab accident


Chandigarh, Nov 6 (BiharTimes) An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer under training was killed when the vehicle in which he was travelling with other officers collided with a tree on a Punjab highway, police said Wednesday.

The accident took place early Wednesday in Moga district, 170 km from here, when the driver of the Toyota Innova lost control and hit a tree along a highway, police said.

The trainee IAS officer was identified as Nishant Kumar, from Bihar. The injured were admitted to hospitals in Moga and Ludhiana, police said.

IAS probationer Nishant Kumar was killed while his fellow officers Shashi Ranjan, Ajit Kumar and Harsh Kumar along with car driver sustained serious injuries..

Ajit Kumar is a resident of Samastipur, while Shashi Ranjan is a resident of Harmu in Ranchi.

Nishant was native of Bishunpur locality in Begusarai town. He secured 148 rank in UPSC examination .

He was student of 'Gandhi Shikshan Sansthan', Begusarai, and local GD college, he had cleared BTech from IIT Roorkee.
