After blasts Bihar Police had asked me to cancel Hunkar Rally: Rajnath Singh

Patna,(BiharTimes): BJP President Rajnath Singh has said that after the serial blasts in Patna officials of Bihar Police had requested him and party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi not to address the Hunkar Rally on October 27 but they decided to go ahead as cancelling the programme would have led to riots in Bihar.

“Police officials came to me and said don’t address the public meeting as some blasts have taken place. They said the same thing to Narendra Modi. I said no, whatever happens, we will address the rally. If we had cancelled the rally, then there would have been riots and violence in the whole of Bihar,” Singh told India TV in an interview.

On the allegation that BJP leaders were playing politics by visiting families of the victims and offering Rs five lakh compensation, Singh said “they were our workers, our well-wishers. This should not be seen as taking political advantage. Had there been communal clashes, you could have said that we took political advantage.”

Rajnath denied reports that the BJP had demanded SPG cover for Modi after the blasts
