Bihar Police denial came at the behest of Nitish: Sushil Modi

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bharatiya Janata Party has now given a new twist to the statement of its president Rajnath Singh and the subsequent denial by Bihar Police.

Former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi said on Monday that it was at the behest of chief minister Nitish Kumar that ADG Ravindra Kumar opened his office on Sunday to call a Press conference to deny that any officer of Bihar Police had approached Rajnath Singh and party’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi to request them to cancel the Hunkar Rally of October 27.

As reported Rajnath Singh said in an interview to India TV on Saturday said that the Bihar Police officials approached them after the serial blasts and requested them to cancel the Rally.

The following day, that is Sunday, the ADG called a Press conference to deny that any such request was made by any officer of the Bihar Police.

However, Sushil Modi now said that Rajnath Singh told him over phone on Monday that he had not mentioned that any police officer from Bihar tried to prevent him from going to the Rally. He said several police officers, including from IB and other wings of police, had talked to him in Patna. He also claimed the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley was asked by IB officials to cancel the rally.

Jaitley inquired from a woman police officer of Bihar Police whether they had any contingency plan to safely evacuate the leaders and the huge crowd from Gandhi Maidan. The woman officer said she would inform him after talking to her seniors, but she never returned. In fact Jaitley said this while talking to the media in New Delhi on October 28 too.

Sushil Modi said it was the duty of the senior officers of Bihar Police to inform Narendra Modi and other senior party leaders about the safety and security measures.
They did not give any advice whether to proceed with the Rally or return but remained silent, the former deputy CM said.
