Ayesha, husband remanded to 14 days judicial custody

Patna,(BiharTimes): Ayesha Bano and her husband, Zubair, who were arrested from Mangalore in the Hawala transaction case were on Saturday remanded to 14 days judicial custody by Chief Judicial Magistrate of Lakhisarai, Amar Jyoti Shrivastava.

Ayesha was arrested by a team of Lakhisarai Police on the basis of an FIR lodged at Lakhisarai after the arrest of four persons––Gopal Kumar Goyal, Vikash Kumar, Ganesh Kumar and Pawan Prasad––in connection with Hawala funding to Indian Mujahideen.

The racket was busted on the basis of an alert from National Investigation Agency, which is probing the serial blasts at Patna and Bodh Gaya on Oct 27 and July 7 respectively.

Ayesha’s husband, Zubair, runs a bidi business in Mangalore. They were arrested on November 12 and were brought here on transit remand for investigating the illegal money trail.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that Ayesha, a mother of three, was handled from Pakistan and used to instruct agents here to deposit money in designated bank accounts.

The four arrested from an HDFC ATM in Lakhisarai on November 7 were sent to the Lakhisarai jail.

According to the police they allegedly used to lure poor people to open bank accounts by paying them Rs 2,000 each.

As reported the Lakhisarai police had seized 25 ATM cards, 35 passbooks and cheques from the arrested.
