BJP leader, workers join JD(U)

Patna,(BiharTimes): Following allegations by the BJP that Janata Dal(United) is only inducting into its fold men of questionable past the latter has something to offer.

On Sunday the vice president of the Doctors’ Cell of the state BJP, Shartrughan Prasad Singh, joined the Janata Dal (United) along with his supporters.

Singh is a prominent doctor of Nawada and was initially in the Samata Party. He joined the party in the presence of state JD(U) chief, Bashisth Narayan Singh and his predecessor, Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan
Singh.

The move has certainly be initiated to silence the BJP, which has been in the attacking position in the recent months. Only last week Bablu Dev and Shah Alam Shabbu, two notorious outlaws, joined the Janata Dal (United). The BJP leader and former chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi was quick to remind of the RJD rule.

Incidentally, Shatrughan Singh cited the elevation of Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP as the reason to quit the saffron party.

He told the media that he was feeling suffocated in the Hindutva fold after it projected Narendra Modi as its PM candidate. He joined the party with a number of lawyers, businessmen, social activists and mukhiyas from Nawada district.

Dr Singh alleged that Narendra Modi is a fountainhead of communalism and the way two UP MLAs accused of fanning communalism in Muzaffarnagar were felicitated by the BJP is shocking.

Political observers are of the view that Dr Singh is likely to be given ticket to contest Lok Sabha election from Nawada parliamentary seat.

Speaking on the occasion the state JD (U) president said a number of BJP leaders and office-bearers are joining JD (U), which is a pointer to the fact that the rank and file of the saffron party  were not happy with it.

Countering the BJP’s allegation that the JD(U) is promoting  criminals state JD (U) vice president Ram Kishore Singh accused Sushil Kumar Modi of patronizing criminals, hoarders and corrupt traders. He said in the 2005 and 2010 Assembly elections, the BJP fielded a number of tainted candidates and many of them were elected. Ram Kishore himself crossed over from BJP to JD(U) after the split of June 16.
