Maoists attack train in Bihar, three killed

 

 

Patna, (BiharTimes) Three Government Railway Police personnel were killed and two seriously injured in an attack on an intercity train at Jamalpur in Munger district of Bihar Saturday.

“The incident occurred in the running train near a tunnel between Jamalpur and Ashikpur railway stations this evening ” , Informed Jamalpur's Railway Superintendent of Police Amitabh Kumar Das.

The ultras also looted five rifles from the GRP jawans before decamping from the incident site. The  bodies of deceased GRP jawans have been identified as Hawaldar Ashok Kumar, constables Bhola Thakur and Uday Singh.

“ Now the bodies are being sent to post-mortem” informed Das.

The five jawans who were escorting this train belonged to the Bihar Miltary Police (BMP )’s 12th Unit.

In a similar attack Naxals had killed three persons in an attack on Dhanbad- Patna express near Jamui  in last June.

Attack on train to get publicity is recent trend in Maoist attacks in Bihar feels a political observer.

Recently, the joint intelligence committee of the union government accused Bihar Government of being soft on Maoist resulting 41 percent increased in causalities in comparison to previous year.
