Nitish does not rule out JD(U)-Congress alliance

Patna,(BiharTimes): Talking to the media a day after senior party leader Shivanand Tiwari called for JD(U)-Congress alliance for the 2014 Lok Sabha poll Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar did not rule out any such possibility.

Though he said anyone is free to express his view he added that “we have not yet thought about it, so how come we say that a decision is being taken in this regard.”

Hinting at the Rajgir Chintan Shivir he said the Janata Dal (United) has its own programmes and meetings and the final decision would be taken only after that.

Political observers are of the view that since Nitish had not denied what Shivanand had said a day earlier it means that headway has been made in this direction. What is surprising is that Nitish said so on the day when Congress MP, Abhijit Mukherjee, son of President Pranab Mukherjee, called on Lalu Yadav in Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi and met him for about half an hour. What actually transpired between them could not be known. However, it is said that he was sent as an emissary of Congress President, Sonia Gandhi.

longer a strong votary of a non-Congress government, Interestingly, Nitish held the BJP responsible for the weakening of anti-Congressism in the country.

He said there was a perfect atmosphere for a non-Congress formation but the BJP has spoiled the entire situation. Though he did not explain it he was hinting at the nomination of Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate of the BJP.
