C P Thakur decries misuse of Section 107 by the Nitish regime

Patna,(BiharTimes): The BJP national vice president, Dr C P Thakur, on Tuesday decried the mass booking of people under Section 107 of the CrPC throughout Bihar ahead of the festive season.

Talking to the media here he said Nitish was behaving like a dictator by directing the police to book people on a mass scale under Section 107 of the CrPC to prevent any untoward.

Dr Thakur said it is only under a dictatorial regime that people are restrained from exercising freedom of movement, which is a fundamental right of the citizens.

He said this is the first time that he was seeing such draconian restriction on people’s movement. He sought the scrapping of Section 107 of the CrPC as it breaches the democratic rights of the citizens.

It needs to be recalled that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had held a meeting with top officials last week and directed them to take strict actions against those vitiating peaceful atmosphere during the festival season.
