Nitish accuses BJP of misusing social media for character assassination

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday accused the BJP of misusing the social media for the character assassination of political rivals and intellectuals and for spreading intolerance in the society.

Speaking at the book release function here on Wednesday the chief minister alleged that when Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen praised Bihar model of development, divisive forces hailing from a party led a campaign on social media to assassinate his character.

Without taking the name Nitish said that the intolerance of the saffron brigade reminds him of the Emergency when freedom of speech was throttled.

He said that when one fails in argument one resort to character assassination with the help of social media.

The book, “The New Bihar: Rekindling Governance and Development” is edited by bureaucrat-turned JD(U) MP N Singh.

Incidentally, it was released by Amartya Sen in Rashtrapati Bhawan in July last. The first copy was presented to President Pranab Mukherjee.

The book release function was followed by a panel discussion on Bihar development in which panelists analysed the turnout of the state from a BIMARU state into a developed one. The chief minister sat among audience.
